10 Years

Wow. So very hard to believe.
Sunday will mark the 10 year anniversary date of the saddest day in our nations history.
I will never forget exactly where I was when 9/11 occured.
{As I am sure the rest of the country will agree}
Sitting on my couch, studying for an upcoming exam.
Then, I got the call from Mom.
"Hurry, get to your television and turn it on."
Then the call from the hubs, then another, then another.
I sat in front of that television for days.
I swear, it WAS days.
That turned to weeks.
No commercials, just 24/7 coverage of what had taken place.
I cried {along with the rest of the nation}
For what seemed like for.ev.er.
All day. Everyday.
How could this happen?
Who would do such a horrible thing?
Why? Just WHY?
..................................................

As I sat there watching, crying, absorbing.
All of the first responders, strangers driving 900 miles to go help.
People donating money to the victims and their loved ones.
Raising funds for donations.
Helping with the cleanup at Ground Zero.
Fellow americans hugging, EMBRACING in the street.
The feeling of being PROUD to be an American.
And I have never been more proud to be one.
In those dark moments of our country suffering.
I came to that realization.
During those dark times, oh.so.dark.
Our nation bonded as a WHOLE.
Unlike any other way I had witnessed before.
It was astounding.
..................................................

May God bless those who lost loved ones on that horrific day.
May he surround them with his love.
Embrace them with his grace.
Give them the strength to make it through.
9/11/01.
We will never forget.
