What's In a Name.

The hubs and I married June 16, 2001.

After we married,

we lived in an old farmhouse together.

It was a rent house,

but we made it ours.

4 months after marrying,

we found out we would have a new addition to our family.

Our little lady arrived July 1, 2002.

Our angel, sent from above.

It was love at first sight.

I still cry thinking of that beautiful day.

We always knew that I would be "at home" with our family.

It was very important to us.

What we both wanted and felt was best for OUR family.

However, this meant sacrifice for us.

FINANCIAL sacrifice.

But we knew God would provide for our little family.

And he has done just that for the last 10 years.

Being on a strict budget, I had to get "crafty" with gifts for our loved ones.

The first Christmas after our lady was born I decided I would give canldes as gifts.

One problem though,

I had no clue as to HOW to make them.

So, I researched and researched and researched.

Those little candles ended up all wrapped up under the tree.

I was so proud and couldn't wait to see loved ones open them.

The rest is truly history.

Friends and family began requesting more for themselves,

then began giving them as gifts to THEIR loved ones.

What a blessing.

Now, I needed a NAME for my little at home biz.

I prayed hard about choosing my business name.
Hoping to be guided to make JUST the right choice.

I wanted it to be a reflection of where we were at THE time I began my journey.

There was a little red barn that sat behind our farmhouse.

I loved it. WE loved it.

The sun would set behind that little red barn. It was beautiful.

We took many pictures in front of that little barn.

{All with our 35mm camera, of course} :)

It represented to me so.many.things.

Married life, becoming a Mama, a dream of being a small business owner,

what the future held for our family, a new chapter in my life, HOPE and PEACE.

Red Barn Candle Company was born.

While I still do not have my own "little red candle making barn"

We now live in a home in the country and are homeowners.

Someday, I hope my red barn will be on our back acre,

with FABULOUS aroma coming out the windows and doors,

with my husband helping me label lids,

and laugh about how RBCC began,

as we sip our coffee,

and watch our littles run around acting crazy,

thanking God for how TRULY blessed we have been.

And realize,

dreams really do come true.

There is a plan for ALL of us.

EVEN IF WE DON'T UNDERSTAND AT THE TIME.

A plan that has enabled me to be at home with these two the last 10 years.

And I wouldn't trade one.single.second of IT.

THEY are MY life.

Soaking up every.single.second of their innocence.

How I love them, SO,SO MUCH.

A plan to look toward our future as a family.

Through the good times and bad.

And the HARD times.

Trust me, we have had many of those.

As, I am sure, have all of you.

Thank you God for my loving and supportive husband,

he has never left my side in this little journey.

Always encouraging me to pursue this dream of mine.

Here's to many more years of being "the candle lady"
