Vintage Bed Turned Candleholders

So,
once upon a time,
we had a bed.
A lovely, old, vintage {not so sturdy} bed.
We purchsed it YEARS ago from an antique shop.
And then one sad day,
came a time when we could no longer use the bed for "a bed"
BUT, we kept it, knowing we would someday make use of it!

Enter,
the candle holders.
And, another upcoming project the hubs is working on!
I promise to share, once it is complete!

To make the candle holders,
the posts were first removed from the bed.
Then cut and seperated into numerous shapes and sizes.

The wood "circles" that were attached at both ends,
can be found at any craft store.
We purchased ours at Hobby Lobby.

They are attached using screws.
An inverted nail was used to hold the pillar candle in place.

We knew we wanted the distressed look.
So, the hubs first gave them a coat of brown.
We then painted them gray and/or white.
Finally sanding them to give them an aged antique look.

We are very happy with the end result.
And we have a lovely set of candleholders for our mantle.
The best part,
we were able to repurpose our lovely vintage bed,
 {that was falling apart}
and transform it into something we will always use and love!

Wow! What a clever idea. I never would have guessed in a million years that those were made out of a bed. They look like they were meant to be that way! The aging adds the perfect touch! :)
