Thrifted Coffee Table Redo

Hello friends!
I have a great project to share with you today!

Remember our fab.u.less day of thrifting I shared with you?
This solid wood, oval coffee table was one of our great finds.
We paid $9 for it!

We knew the potential was there for a great piece of furniture.
We knew we wanted to go with the distressed look.
So, the hubs got busy sanding.
And he sanded, and sanded, and sanded!

Next we painted the coffee table the brown tone that we wanted to show underneath.
We went with white for the "top coat"
{Shocking, I know}
:)

After a few coats of white and letting it dry completely,
the hubs busted out the sand paper and started rubbing the edges.
We wanted to make sure we liked the look before distressing the entire table.

I have to say, I LOVE the end result!
I like when a "new piece" of distressed furniture end up "looking old"

Since we knew the kids would be
eating,
drawing,
coloring,
snacking,
crafting,
painting,
game playing,
puzzle fixing,
and LAWD knows what else on our pretty "new table"
the hubs applied a clear polyurethane satin finish.
 {To seal it and to make for easy clean up}

So far,
we are really happy with the table.
I REALLY like the shelf underneath,
however, it remains empty for now.
Not sure what I will decide to put under there.
I am thinking possibly books or magazines.
:)

And, in case your wondering,
I also can't decide what I want on top either.
Go figure.

I will be back tomorrow with part two of my thrifty decorting series!
You can read part one here.

Thanks for stopping by my dears.
Here's to a fabulous week!

Your table turned out beautifully. Just the right amount of distressing, and I like the vignette on top.
