Specifically about where I "purchase things" I decorate with.
You have all shared some very nice comments with me about our home.
I sincerely appreciate every single one.
You are too kind!
I have decided to have a little thrifty decor series here on the blog.
~Thrifty Side Table Decor
~Thrifty Coffee Table Decor
~Thrifty Kitchen Decor
~Thrifty Shelf Decor
~Thrifty Wall Decor
I am going to be 100% honest with you here,
and share I am a BIG TIME budget decorator.
I do not pay full price for anything.
I also will share with you that I.LOVE.TO.DECORATE.
Always have.
It is seriously stress relief for me.
{Just like blogging is}
I know, I am strange, a bit weird even.
:)
Being a stay at home mom for ten years,
I have "learned" to decorate our home on a budget.
I have always wanted to create a lovely and comfortable enviroment for my family to enjoy.
However, at the end of the day {during the least ten years}
there was very LITTLE money left for "extra things"
{Such as home decor}
So, I improvised.
And, so can you!
Don't THINK you CAN'T have a beautiful space,
just because you don't have alot of extra money to spend on decor.
You CAN!
:)
So, let's just examine this little "snip-it" of our home,
from the top of the picture down.
Hydrangea flower {Hobby Lobby} $2 on clearance last spring
Rectangle brown basket {Goodwill} 50 cents
Large black artwork {Hobby Lobby} $20 on clearance. Great price for wall art!
Candle sconce to the left. {Wedding gift, 10 years ago}
Moving down to the table now.
White tulips {Walmart, 50 years ago, seriously} $4
Vintage white enamel pitcher {Local antique shop} $12
Better homes and gardens warmer {Walmart} Birthday gift from hubs. $14
Vintage doily. {Estate sale} 50 cents
Vinatge books. {Estate sale} $1 for both.
Candle holder. {Made by the hubs} Free!
Little resin bird. {Hobby Lobby} $2
Okay.
So, a grand total of $56 for EVERYTHING!
I can also tell you that ALL of these items have been everywhere in our home.
Yes, I am serious!
Yes, I am serious!
I ALWAYS move things room to room.
I love changing things up!
That is normal, right?
:)
That is normal, right?
:)
A little tip I also "go by" when purchasing items,
if I can't use it in several areas of my home, I don't buy it!
Simple as that!
Thanks for sticking with me through this rather long post.
I hope it inspires you to do some budget decorating of your own!
Remember, you don't have to spend big bucks to get a "classy look"
I promise!
Stay tuned for the rest of the thrifty decor series.
This is only part one ya know!
Thanks for stopping by today my dears!
:)

Looks great -- and I agree that if it can't be used in one or more spots, it doesn't get in my house! I would love it if you would link up with Busy Monday (through Thursdays) at A Pinch of Joy, a linky party for ideas that make life better.
Visiting from I Heart Nap Time's Sunday Scoop :)

Love it! I'm a thrift store junkie too!
I shop for decor the same way. Best part is that it forces you to think outside the box and be creative.
Visiting from Home Stories. Following you now.
GREAT post... definitely my kind of decorating, I LOVE thrifting and making inexpensive things look expensive. Lovely blog also! Newly following, come see me sometime! Orangies Attic
Oh I love this! It would be great if you would share this with our readers for Fun Stuff Fridays. http://www.toysinthedryer.com/2012/02/fun-stuff-fridays-11.html
I love your whole vingette. It has the "wow" factor for me. I am especially drawn to the black ornate artwork that you have above your side table. I can't believe it was only $20.00. Great job! I am going to stick around and look at other parts of your home.
Love it, you are very thrifty.
Thank you girls. Yes, I am a big time thrifter. Always have been! :) Thank you so much for visiting and your postive thoughts about this post. I sincerely appreciate each and every one! More thrifty tips to come! :)

I am absolutely loving your pitcher. I have been on the hunt for something similar but I remembered we got a clear one for our wedding gift, hmm I wonder could I use some acrylic paint to transform it? I might just try it. Thanks for sharing!
well, you are luckiest I think with both the flowers and the hubbie. Love that candle stick.
