Hi friends!
Can you believe it is Thursday already?
Shew!
Where has the week gone?
After receiving a few emails asking about my home decor,
I decided to write a little post about it to share with you, my friends!
As many of you know, I LOVE to decorate.
However, when you are on a budget,
{and WHO isn't these days}
decorating your home can be a bit, well, challenging, right?
So I thought I would share some tips with you today,
on how I decorate our nest, for less!
And how you can do the same thing!
#1} Go Thrifting!
There is a reason this is #1 FOLKS!
I wrote a whole little series about thrifty decorating!
If you haven't already, check it out!
If you haven't already, check it out!
The beauty of thrifting is that you never know what you will find!
Some of my favorite items to decorate with were thrify finds.
Most cost around $5 to $10!
Yard sales are great places to find awesome deals,
along with thrift and resale shops.
And, don't be afraid to pick up "trash"
Yes, you read that right!
You never know what you will spot on the side of the road.
For instance, the hubs and I found this vintage basket.
It is huge and was the perfect large piece of "artwork" I had been looking for!
Best of all, it was FREE!
Speaking of artwork....
#2} Do It Yourself Artwork
Artwork in retail stores is SO overpriced.
And, so cookie cutter.
Why not create something that no one else has?
A one of a kind piece of artwork for your home!

A one of a kind piece of artwork for your home!
This DIY burlap and vintage spoon artwork was so easy to make.
And again, very affordable.
As well as the chalkboard above.
{Purchased at Micheal's for $3, then painted white}
And the letter Z.
{Purchased at Hobby Lobby for $5 and then wrapped in jute twine}
Both of these items add a personal touch to our "new" hutch!
Here is another quick and easy project for anyone!
DIY $1 cardboard chalkboard.
Super simple!
#3} Shop at Walmart and Target
The lamps pictured above are from there.
Lamps can be expensive, and these were very affordable.
So, next time you are in Walmart,
check out the Better Homes and Gardens goodies!
Great stuff at affordable prices!
Just sayin'
We all know Target rocks, right?
So many items in our home are from Target.
I mean, SO MANY!
For now, I will share the picture of the silver clock above with you.
Because, let's face it folks,
we would be here all day looking at a million photos,
if I shared all of items purchased at Target that are in our home!
Okay, back to the clock.
The hubs and I purchased it YEARS ago together.
It is classy, timeless and simple.
I still love it today as much as the day we purchased it!
#4} Decorate with the unexpected!
This little vintage fan is one of my favorite things in our home.
It belonged to my great grandparents,
and almost went into the trash when we were cleaning out their home.
Thankfully I saw her in time and she came home to live with us!
Every time I look at it, I think of my great granny and grandpa!
A coaster.
So simple, right?
This also has a sentimental meaning for me.
Our favorite vacation spot is Destin, Florida.
When we were there this year,
I picked up this little coaster as a souvenir after eating dinner.
Came home and framed it.
Love!
An old beat up window, with a wreath hanging on it.
Who would have thought, right?
This bad boy also hides our tacky hallway thermostat!
#5} Shop your house!
Here are some tips on decorating a hutch, with not much!
Everything I used to accessorize our "new" hutch with,
I found from shopping around our house.
Many items were hidden in cabinets or being stored away.
I can't tell you HOW many times I have redone a room,
all by "shopping the house" for items and simply changing things up!
#6} Search online for decorating inspiration
There are SO many great decorating blogs and websites online.
Use them to your advantage!
I have several great blogs that I refer to for decorating ideas.
320 Sycamore
The Shabby Nest
Under The Table and Dreaming
The Nester
The 36th Avenue
Just to name a few!
All of these ladies are absolutely FABULOUS!
Check them out!
Okay!
That basically concludes the longest post I have EVER written.
Seriously.
Thank you for sticking with me!
I am very passionate about this subject.
I believe everyone deserves to have a pretty home.
I also believe everyone CAN, on their personal budget!
You just have to use your resources.
Have a great evening my friends!
I am sharing this post here this week!

Funny - I just blogged about my hutch makeover this week and there's a letter "Z" on it! Great ideas!
I love your window and wreath idea! I have a thermostat that I want to cover up too. May have to try this idea! Thanks! I am linking up from Weekend Wrap Up Party. http://tatertotsandjello.com/
Thrift and trash are my favorites. I just came home from a pathetic day out hunting the garage sales and moved some things around and made a whole new look with some of the junk I have recently purchased and made. So fun to have a new look for nearly nothing!
