A Fab.U.Less Day Of Thrifting! {#2}

Happy Wednesday my dears.
Hope you all are having a great week.
Today I want to share some of my great thrifted finds with you.

I have been to some great estate sales lately.
This really is the "time of year" to look for estate sales.
Going into the spring season, you will see more pop up.
Search your local newspaper and craigslist to find estate sales in your area!

Okay, onto the great thrifted finds!

Little glass jar, just waiting to be filled with something cute!
{50 cents}

Vintage white plates {5}
Hello, can you say LOVE?!
{$2 for all}

Vintage fabric.
{$1}

Vintage glass saucer plates {9}
$2

Vintage red and white enamel cups.
{$1 for both}

Do I have "red" in my home anymore?
Heck no.
Did I buy these anyway?
Heck yes.

I loved them and knew I couldn't leave them behind.
The hubs and I have been enjoying our morning coffee in these bad boys!
:)

Okay,
moving on to the clothes!

I have to say, when thrifting,
clothes are a TOTAL "hit or miss" for me.

I see alot of things I love.
But, most of those things do NOT come home with me.
Simply because I don't know what they would look like "on"
and I don't want to be featured on the next episode of Hoarders.
MmmmmmmmK!

Love.love.love this top.
Pink and white, perfect for spring and summer!
{$1}

Vintage sweater
{$2}

Vintage handmade top

Okay, so that's a whopping total of $10.50!
Pretty sure you couldn't get ONE shirt for that price.
Just sayin'
:)

Have a great day my friends!

I am headed off of here to finish sorting through garage sale items.
We are having one this Saturday and I am getting rid of a TON of stuff.
YAY for spring cleaning!

What's Happening

Life around these parts has been busy lately.
Lot's of stuff going on,
and, as usual,
I am TRYING to keep up with life.

When life does slow down a bit,
which is usually Sunday afternoon for us,
I find myself soaking up every single second with my children and husband.
Trying to savor every waking moment that God has blessed us with.

Is it always unicorns and rainbows at our house?
Ummmmm,
heck no.
Far from it!
Pretty certain that none of us live a perfect life.
But it is life, our life and I will embrace it.
I wouldn't trade it for the world.

It seems that there is so much change going on.
Not just with my family,
but alot of people that we know.
Good change and bad change.
Change surrounds us,
and I suppose, life is always full of change.

After all, the only thing that stays the same is eveything changes.
:)

I have been praying lately.
A.LOT.
So many times a day that I can't keep count.
Seriously.

I have so many questions about so many things.
Things and situations that are beyond my understanding.
I have learned that simply "turning it over"
is the best answer to my so many questions.

I have no control of the future and what it holds.
Am I doing what I am "supposed" to be doing?
I don't know.
But I do know I have today.
And, as with every other day,
I will do the.best.that.I.can.
I will live each day to the fullest.

Is it good enough?
It is for me.

Hide Your Thermostat

Look hard at the above picture folks.
Okay, not TOO hard!

Do you see that "lovely" plastic thermostat peeping at you back there?
When we bought this house a few years back,
I knew I would HAVE to do something to hide that baby!
Using what I had on hand,
this is what I came up with.

I used an old window that was a roadside find.
I removed the piece of glass that "covered" the thermostat.
That way when I need to turn it on/off,
all I have to do is reach back behind the wreath through that space.

I simply attached some wire to the back of the window,
 to make for easy hanging.
Then hung my wreath onto the window.

I like to switch the wreaths out with the seasons.

I couldn't be happier with my little thermostat hider!
What do you think?

Happy Friday my friends!

DIY All Purpose Cleaner

Hello there!
I wanted to share this little concoction with you today.
It is a fabulous {3 ingredient} all purpose cleaner.
It couldn't be easier to make.
Seriously.

 Dawn {original blue works best}
Water
White vinegar
Spray bottle {mine is 14 ounce size}

By the way, did you know there are a ton of uses for blue dawn?
I am considering writing a post about it.
I have found so many great uses for it,
 and would love to share them with you!

Pour 1/2 cup Dawn into your bottle.
Add 1 cup of water.
Fill to the top with white vinegar.

Shake it up a bit.
That's it.
Told you, it truly could not be more simple, folks!
:)

If the vinegar smell is "too much" for you,
try adding a teaspoon or so of liquid fabric softener.

It will clean just as good!

I may or may not have placed that cute vintage towel there,
for picture taking purposes only.
You didn't think I was actually going to use that towel to clean with,
did ya?
Duh!
;)

What's Happening

How is it Wednesday already?
We are enjoying the spring like temps here in Texas.
It is absolutely beautiful outside.

Our little lady would rather bike ride than just about anything.
Lately I have been taking the kids down to the lake on their bikes.
It is as much fun for Mama as it is for them.
:)

I have been inpired by this lovely weather to do some spring cleaning.
I started cleaning out "stuff" and now I can't stop!
I guess that is a good thing.
Nevermind I NEED to be candlemaking.

I couldn't keep this little guy OUT of the water last weekend.
He had more fun playing with the cat and this piece of wood.
I don't know when he got so big.
He is growing way to fast.
Love him so much!

We had alot of fun at the school Valentine party last week.
We enjoyed cokes, candy and ice cream with the whole class!

Little lady brought home her Valentine box that we worked so hard on.
The kids at school kept telling her she should be on "Cake Boss"
:)
I swear it held about 10 pounds of candy, that the kids ate in about an hour.
Kidding.
Sort of.

That night the "pizza delivery man" came to the house for a special treat!

I will leave you with this little "sneak peek" that we have been working on.
The hubs is doing a fabulous job on the top.
Can't wait to share the before and after pics!

Until next time!

Easy Cream Cheese Danish

I am here today to share a yummy recipe with you.
I found the recipe in an old church cookbook.
I, of course, made some alterations!
It was actually supposed to be made in a 9 x 13.
 I cut it in half and used and 8 x 8 square dish and it came out great!

You will need:

1 block of cream cheese
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 tsp lemon juice
1 container of crescent rolls

Preheat your oven to 350.

Let your cream cheese soften {or pop in microwave for 20 seconds}
Add sugar and lemon juice.
Mix well.
Grease your square dish.
Unroll your crescent rolls and cover the bottom of the dish with them.
Be sure to "pinch" all of the seams to seal them.

Bake for 5 minutes or so.
I did this to make sure the dough cooked all of the way through.
Take out of oven.

Pour your cream cheese mixture on top.
Put the remainder of your crescent rolls on top of that.
Again, be sure all seams are sealed.

Bake for 25-30 minutes.
{Or until golden brown on top}

That's it.
Told you it was easy.
The hubs and kids were seriously raving about this recipe!
Next time I will be making the 9 x 13 size!

Thrifty Kitchen Decor

Hi there!
As promised, I am back with part three to my thrifty decor series.
You can view part one here and part two here.

This little series has gotten a bit of attention.
I am so happy that you all have been inspired to decorate on a budget.
Thank you so much for the kind comments, emails and features.
I am truly honored that sharing a bit of our home has served as inspiration for you.

I have always been a big time thrifter.
Even as a child, I loved to make something out of nothing.
And, almost everything I share here in my blog is "thrifty" in one way or another.

Growing up, it was just my Mama, sister and I.
We did without. Alot.
Especially when Mama was putting herself through college.
We made "do" with what we had.
 We didn't have much, but we had each other.
That I wouldn't trade for the world.
It has made me who I am today!
But, that's a story for another day.

I learned to get crafty at a very early age.
And, have carried that through my life.
I am truly blessed with the life I have been given.

I am so excited to share part three of the series with you today.
Thrifty Kitchen Decor.

We are actually woking on some updates in our kitchen.
{Which I will share soon. Promise!}
:)
However, today I will share some of the thrifty items I use to decorate with.

Black and white toile plates {Target. Had forever. $5 for both}
Better Homes and Gardens Buffet Lamps {Walmart. $20 for the pair}
Vintage frame {From a dear friend} that we turned into a mirror {Free}
Vintage doily {Estate Sale $1}
Pears {Walmart. $4}
Mercury glass bowl {Target. Clearance. Years ago. $8}

Clock. {Target. Again, old! $15}
 Wreath. {Antique shop. $5}

HUGE vintage brown basket. {Roadside find. Seriously! Free}
"Z" {Hobby Lobby, $5}
FYI~Our last name may or may not start with the letter "Z"
;)

Vintage ladder that we turned into a pot rack. {Antique Shop. $25}
All of the enamel pieces were thrifted.
 If I had to guess, I would say $25 for everything.

One of our kitchen island stools. {Antique Shop. $16}

Vintage black cabinet that we use as a sideboard.
{Antique Shop. $95}

I have to be honest and tell you, this was a splurge for us.
We used a portion of our income tax refund a few years ago.
Orginally, we used this piece under our television.
And, like everything else we own,
it has been moved to several locations around our house!

I just love the little glass knobs on it.
It now holds candles.
Go figure!

Greenery. {Hobby Lobby $4}
White tin planter. {Thrifted $3}

Chalkboard platter, made by me. {Platter purchased at Walmart for $8}
If you don't have a chalkboard in your kitchen,
get one or better yet, make one!
:)

 It is one of my favorite items in our home.
I LOVE putting little quotes in it.
The kids love drawing on it.
Love, love, love chalkboards!

So, that makes a grand total of $239 for all of the items pictured.
Not too shabby!
:)

Thanks for sticking with me through this post.
I will be back later in the week with part four to the series.
