Bacon Topped Stuffed Jalapeno Peppers

Happy Monday my peeps!
I have a fabulous recipe to share with you today.
Bacon topped stuffed jalapeno peppers.
Yummy!
A staple at every family cookout for us during the summertime!
:)

Grab yourself about 15-20 jalapenos.
Wash them up really good.
Slice them down the middle.
Spoon out all of the seeds.

In a small bowl,
Combine:

1 block room temp cream cheese
1 cup grated cheddar cheese
2 tsp. garlic powder
salt and pepper to taste

Grab your package of bacon.
You will only need about half the package.
Slice up the bacon into small pieces.

You can wrap the bacon around the pepper as well.
However, we prefer a small slice on top of our peppers!

Stuff your peepers with your cheese mixture.

Place your bacon on top.
Bake at 350 for 35-40 minutes.
We have also grilled these.
They are just as yummy.

Have a great week my friends!

A Tex Mex Night In

Last night we actually had no activites going on.
It was so nice to have an evening at home.
Just chilling and relaxing.

I swear I feel like we live in the car alot of the time.
We are back and forth in to town all.day.long.
But, that's country livin' for ya!

I cooked us up some grilled chicken breast.
They sure were delicious, if I do say so myself!
:)

I also threw together our version of pico de gallo.
Yummo!

The kids loved making their own burritos.
Boy, do they love some cheese and sour cream!
:)

I am hoping to be back later today to share a project.
However, we have another busy day and evening ahead.
So, we shall see!

Have a great day my dears.
TGIF!

The Story of Our $30 Thrifted Couch

Once upon a time, a long time ago, {seven years to be exact}
the hubs and I purchased our first home.
We lived in that home for five years.
We basically "redid" the entire little historic home ourselves.
It was a frame house, built in 1930.
It had all of the charm and character that old homes have.

It also had a tiny living room.
No, ya'll, I mean T.I.N.Y.
So tiny, in fact, we had to sell our couches we had at the time,
beacuse they simply wouldn't fit.
We then purchased a down sized couch and loveseat.
They were comfy and we enjoyed them while we lived there.

Fast forward to the purchase of our current home.
The living room opens up the kitchen.
Both rooms have very high ceilings.
Those tiny couches were getting all swallowed up by the space.

We knew we wanted one extra large couch,
perfect for movie nights with our little family of four.
A pretty couch but also a super duper comfy couch.
Something neutral and also with good bones.
And, affordable.
Easier said than done my friends.
Have you BEEN couch shopping lately?!

So, the couch searching began.
We looked and looked and looked and looked,
then argued.
Then looked and looked and looked again.
:)
And....just when we had given up finding the perfect couch.
 .

The hubs and I were on a date day,
thrifting and lunch.
One of favorite things to do.
Lame?
Maybe, I don't think so.

We were making our last stop of the day, at one of our favorite thrift stores.
Now, let me set the scene for you.
This place is VERY scarey.
Sometimes it smells.
I don't usually go here alone.
Exconvicts work the counter.
It is usually dark, many of the lights don't work.
Most of the folks who shop here don't have teeth.
Okay, so now that you have all of that information.
Moving on with our story....

I hear the hubs call my name from around the corner.
I run over to see what the fuss is about.
And, there, in all of it's glory, was a couch, that had just been dropped off.

OH.MY.LAWD.

It was OUR couch, the one we had been dreaming of.
The one we just knew didn't exist.

He then tells me, "they want $40 for it~I'm gonna offer $30"
And before I can blink or say a word, he runs off to the counter.

He comes back in a flash and says "sold for $30"

Seriously.
Can you even believe it?
By FAR, the BEST thrifted treasure we have found.
E-VER!!!!

We got it home and let it air out.
I then spent probably $30 on febreze and lysol.
Seriously.

So, there you have the story of our $30 thrifted couch!

One more thing before you go,
{thanks for reading this novel}

What do you think about the new fabrics I picked out last weekend?
It only took me two hours to decide on three fabrics.
;)

I am making new pillows for our couch soon.
I am very excited about the lighter colors and sprucing up the living room.

Hope you will stick around my friends.
Have a fabulous day!

I am linking up with these gals.

Cinnamon, Sugar and White Chocolate Snack Mix

Hello friends!
I wanted to share a new yummy recipe with you.
I sure hope ya'll are ready for something sweet!

I have been trying to decide what to make our little ladies fabulous teachers.
{They are wonderful teachers and we appreciate them}
:)

They all loved the snickerdoodle popcorn snack mix we made last month.
So, I knew I wanted something similar, but not exactly the same.
I basically was grocery shopping and had this idea "come to me"

Cinnamon, sugar and white chocolate snack mix.
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhh"
{Angels singing}
:)

Grab the biggest bowl you can find.
Seriously.
The.Biggest.

Throw half a box of each type of cereal in your bowl.
Be sure to purchase the cinnmon types as shown above.
Unless, of course, you don't want the cinnamon flavor.

Get your cute little snack bags from the Target dollar bin ready to go.

In a small sauce pan, over low heat, melt 1 stick butter and 1/2 cup sugar.
Stir for a few minutes or so.

Pour butter and sugar mixture over cereal mixture.
Work as quick as you can to coat the entire mixture.
Spread evenly onto cookie sheets or wax paper.

Once mixture has started to cool,
sprinkle 1 cup of white chocoltae chips on top.

Scoop your yummy snack mix into your baggies.
Be sure and keep some for yourself to enjoy!
:)

Antique Alley

Hey friends!
Just popping in for a bit.
The little man and I have a long to do list today!

We went to antique alley this weekend.
The weather was beautiful.
Sunshine with a bit of a breeze.

We had a great time and had some great food as well!
Festival barbecue is the BEST!
:)

My favorite booth to visit is junque in the trunk.
I make it a point to stop by there every year.
She has amazing goodies,
most of which she has redone herself.
Chalkboards, vintage goods, shabby furniture, burlap.
LOVE!

We also always go visit my friend, Cheryl.
She has a booth filled with amazing antiques.
She makes awesome and unique greenhouses out of old windows.
Amazing!

Have a great day peeps and enjoy a peek at antique alley below!

Can't you just smell that barbecue cooking?
Yummo!

XOXO

Sassy New Blog Design!

Happy Monday my dears!
In case you haven't noticed,
the blog is undergoing a little makeover.
Please hang with me as I work to get everything situated!
I am getting there, slowly but surely.
It is almost finished, and I couldn't be more excited!

I wanted to share with you a bit about my fabulous blog designer.
She made this blog transformation possible.
I had a "vision" of what I wanted my new design to look like,
and boy, oh boy, did she make it come to life.
She.is.awesome.

Head on over to Royal Daughter Designs to meet Amanda.
She offers a nice variety of beautification packages to choose from.

I simply cannot say enough great things about her.
She worked with me every step of the way.
Answering ALL of my annoying questions and emails!
Always wanting me to be happy and satisfied with the process and design.
Extremely kind, helpful and patient.
{THIS Amanda IS a little OCD, you know}
;)

Thank you Amanda, from the bottom of my heart.
You made my little dream into a reality.

This and That.

Hello there my friends.
I hope you all are doing great and have had a wonderful week.

I have been lacking in the post department lately.
Honestly, it has been for a variety of reasons.
Mainly though, I have been in deep thought this week.

Everyone in my little family is doing just fine.
However, we are dealing with some issues at hand right now.
The hubs and I are being faced with making some difficult decisions for our family.
Decisions that are serious and not to be taken lightly.
I have been praying {day and night} for God to guide us in the right direction.
And, at the end of the day, I know he will.
That being said, I have a hard time "turning things over"
I know that THIS in fact is what FAITH is.
I have to trust.
Plain and simple.

With all of this going on, I just haven't been able to "make myself" blog.
My whole philosophy on this blogging thing is to be TRUE,
to MYSELF and to MY READERS.
I can't post a happy go lucky post, when I am totally not in that place.
Putting it simply, that is just not me.

So, for now I am here.
In a deep and reflective state.
Faced with some hard choices.
But, here.
:)

I have missed all of you and am so thankful to have you on my side.

Boy, did that sound all debbie downer, or WHAT?!
Sorry, again, just trying to keep it real with you all.

So, from deep and reflective issues to avocados we go.
:)

Seriously, we have been eating these things like C-ARAZY over here.
They are so yummy and in season right now,
so pick some up next time you visit the grocery store.
Mmmmmk.

Speaking of in season, pineapples are as well.
We pick one up everytime we are at the store.
They are SO delicious.

I made a fruit salad for us last weekend.
Full of pineapple, cantelope, nectarines and grapes.
It was eaten in about twenty minutes.
Tops.

Seriously. SO yummy!

Our little green tomato isn't so little anymore.
We check on her everyday.

Little man is dying to pick her!
Much to our surprise, she has two more growing above her on the vine.
Can't WAIT until they start turning ripening up!
:)

We planted some little white flowers on the patio out back.
They are doing really good so far.
We have had some really humid weather here in Texas.

The flowers and veges are thriving!

Our family has been enjoying our new firepit the hubs made for us.

The kids get so excited when we tell them we are building a fire.
They love to help gather the wood.
Their favorite part, by far, is roasting food {any kind} over the fire.

I see MANY more campfires in our future.
It has quickly become our favorite family activity.

We even sang around the campfire last weekend.

My song of choice {when I got the guitar}
Light My Fire.
;)

Oh no you di-int. Oh yes, I did.

Have a great weekend my peeps.

We are headed to antique alley this weekend and I can't WAIT!
Eeeeeek!
