Christmas Candles

Happy happy happy Friday!
I just finished up making another round of Christmas candles.
I also went for more supplies today,
and will be making more this weekend.
I was hoping to list them and open back up the etsy shop.
Sadly, I don't think that is going to happen,
due to filling online and local orders.
It is super time consuming with pictures and descriptions and all.
So for now, it's not happening.

Several of you have emailed asking how to purchase candles.
So, here is the deal!

All candles are eight ounce mason jar candles.
Every candle is triple scented and made with only the finest wax and lead free wicks.
Candles will burn for 55+ hours IF you trim wick prior to each lighting!

Please email me with your order and I can send you a shipping quote.
I will be billing/sending all invoices via my Red Barn Candle paypal account.

Here are the current Christmas scents I have in stock:

Baked Pie Crust

Buttered Rum

Christmas Cider

Christmas Tree

Cocoa Sleigh Ride

Cranberry Spice

*Buttermint will be made/restocked this weekend*

Shew,
hope that answers everything.
It has been a loooooooong day.
SO happy the weekend has arrived!

Love ya'll!

DIY Christmas Chalkboard

SO happy it is Thursday!
We are looking forward to a fun filled weekend over here.
So, the sooner it gets here, the better!

A while back I was cleaning out O's room.
He has had this wood puzzle "with a missing piece" forever and ever.
He hardly ever plays with it anymore,
and I hated to trash the actual board, so my mind got to thinking.
Hmmmmm,
how can I re purpose and recycle this bad boy....

CHALKBOARD!
{I am sure you are so shocked, right}
Needless to say,
I have made a few chalkboards in my day!

So, I slapped some gray paint around the edge,
got out my can of chalkboard paint and went to town!

With Christmas approaching,
I knew I wanted an extra festive touch.

I grabbed a few pine sprigs, little silver balls and berries out of the craft closet.
Next I used a scrap piece of felt to attach everything to.

I basically just hot glued it all together,
and came up with something festive!
Super easy,
five minutes tops.

I am so so so happy with the way it turned out!

I decided to hang it in the corner by the tree!

What do you think?
Do you have 286 chalkboards in your house like me?
;)

Sharing here this week!

Have a great day everyone!

Let Us Remember

what is truly important in this life.

Maybe it's because this precious little boy is the same age as my Owen.
Or maybe it's because so many we love have been touched by cancer.
Or maybe it's because all my heart knows and loves is to be a mother,
and the thought of ever losing one of my children is to painful to bear.
Or maybe because I simply cannot understand why these things happen.
Most of all, how they can happen to children.

Whatever the reason may be,
today, I am counting my blessings, my friends.

The things that are stressing me out today.
Stupid and petty things.
Oh, and there are so many I could list.

Cats in our Christmas tree,
messing up the presents I took so much time wrapping.
Three hundred candles that should be finished already.
Orders to be packed up and shipped out.
Family pictures to be printed.
Christmas cards waiting to be addressed and sent out.
An etsy shop to reopen
Gifts to be bought.
A house that needs to be cleaned form top to bottom.
What am I cooking my family for dinner tonight.
Not to mention school homework and projects with the kids.
I could go on and on.
But why?

In the grand scheme of life,
not ONE of these things truly matters.

I ask you to stop what you are doing today,
even if for a brief moment.
Please say a prayer for this precious child and his family.

Isaac is facing the battle of his life.
Here is this sweet boy's story.
Isaac and his family need prayers,
lots and lots of them.

Erin shared this story with her readers last night.
I sat at my computer reading, crying and trying to process this child's story.
Imagining what he and his family have endured while he has been fighting this illness.
Like Erin, I do not know this child or family,
but knew I could reach out to you, my dear friends.
So, I am reaching out for prayers.
Please pray for a miracle for this sweet child,
and please, don't take one single second in this life for granted.
Ever single second is a gift.

Thank you, much love to each of you.

Vintage Inspired Christmas Paper Chain

Hi there!
I hope you all are having a great Monday so far.
We are trying to get back in the swing of things.
The kids went back to school today, fall break is over.
I miss them being here with me during the day.
Boooo.
Hissssss.
I have a ton of candle making to do,
so that is keeping me busy and distracted.

A few weeks ago, we took a little trip to Hobby Lobby.
I found this little paper chain kit in the Christmas craft section.
I picked up two kits on sale for $1.50 each!
I thought it would be a fun little project for the kids and I to make.

I thought the colors and the patterns were so pretty.
Very vintage looking.
Love!

So, basically you just pull off the little sticker,
thread one piece through another piece.

Repeat this process until you are all finished.
No glue = No mess
Yay!

There is something so special about Christmas paper chains to me.
Takes me right back to my childhood and making them in school.
I am so thankful I get to share these special memories with our kiddos!

Sausage Cheese Balls

Good Sunday morning to you friends!
I hope all of you had a great weekend.
We worked on decorating the house for Christmas.
All day and all night Saturday.
Needless to say, we all worked up a big appetite!
So, the kids and I decided to make sausage cheese balls yesterday for a snack.
We love making these this time of year.
I always like to bag some up and put them in the freezer,
take them out and pop them in the microwave,
and you have breakfast ready in a flash!

For those of you who have not made them before,
they are so super duper easy.

You will need:

1 lb. of pork sausage
2 cups of cheddar cheese
2 cups of bisquick

Oh yes,
and also a little man who thinks he is famous,
because his name is on the sausage package.

Throw your sausage in a large bowl.

Mix in cheese and bisquick.

Once well blended, form into small balls.

Place on wire racks over foil lined cookie sheet.
{This helps tremendously with grease}
Bake at 375 for 20 minutes, or until sausage is thoroughly heated.

Let them cool and enjoy!
Enjoy the rest of your day my friends!

I will be sharing here this week.

Our Day Of Thanks

We drove to town for Thanksgiving on Thursday,
admiring all of the beautiful changing leaves along the way.
No words can explain the anticipation of Granny's turkey and dressing.
We actually had a "count down" of sorts!
Once a year, my friends.
You better believe we went back for seconds.
And thirds.

The weather here was absolutely beautiful.
We played football outside for hours,
all the while admiring the leaves blowing around us.
I snapped this picture of these two in action.
I love this picture.
Every time I look at it I tear up and smile.

I still find myself having to catch my breath,
oh.so.often.
realizing how much these two have grown up.

They are truly our greatest blessings.
Life without them,
I cannot even begin to imagine.
They are precious gifts from God,
and I thank him everyday for these two.

Bella had to join in on the football fun.
What can I say,
she loves her cousins.

After football outside,
we headed inside to watch some football.
Not for long though.
{See pictures below}
;)

Ahem.

Once we heard Uncle David pull up in his vintage Corvette,
we all ran back outside.
The kids were beyond excited to check it out with Aunt Lindsay!

And then,
it was my turn.
We may or may not have driven around the block jamming out to Happy Days.

And can I just say,
I love my kids and husband and all,
but I was so ready to cruise with Lindsay in this bad boy.
Seriously.

The weekend comes...

Yah,
awesome!

After heading home Thanksgiving night,
these two sat down for a long game of battleship.
They were so tired.

I sat down with a hot cup of tea,
and did a lot of reflecting on our day,
life, family, friends.
How blessed we TRULY are.

It was such a beautiful day.
I hope each of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

What's Happening

Happy Monday everyone!
I hope you had a fabulous weekend.
We are enjoying the start of our fall break over here.
Last week, we had two sick kiddos on our hands.
It was the longest week ever.
I think everyone in our house in finally 100% well.
Thank.The.Lawd.

Little man showing off his "smiley faces"
He is so proud of himself, and shows me first thing everyday!

Little lady and her new Diary of a Wimpy Kid book.
{The Third Wheel}
It came out on Tuesday and she has been counting down the days!
She read it in forty five minutes.
Seriously.
Now, she's ready for the next one!

We stopped by Granny and Grandpa's to visit Gauge.
She is their black lab and seventeen years old.
She is not doing too good lately, poor thing.
Please pray she feels better,
we just can't imagine life without Gauge in it.
Our whole family loves her so much.

I decided to treat myself to a "new do"
I wanted to keep the length,
but added some layers and a little poof.
What do ya think?

If I could only style it as good as my awesome beautician does.
Sigh.

My mother in law surprised us with homemade kolaches.
I could have eaten all dozen, and almost did.
Thank goodness I love my kids.
Gawl!
;)

And, last but certainly not least.
I busted out with my peppermint mocha creamer.
Typically I MAKE myself wait until after Thanksgiving,
however, this year I couldn't help myself!
Oh my gosh, so yummy.
This girl is ready for the holidays!
How bout you?

*Winner of the bubble necklace giveaway is Celeste*
Email me and I will get you hooked up, girl!

Thanksgiving Mantle

Happy Saturday my friends!
I hope that your weekend is off to a great start.
We are so excited in these parts, our fall break begins today!
Woooohoooo for nine glorious days off.
Now we are counting down the days until Granny's turkey and dressing.
And warm and fresh out of the oven rolls.
And yummy pumpkin pie.
And then some pecan pie.
And, just about anything else was can fill our bellies with!
Just sayin'

It can't come soon enough!

Speaking of Thanksgiving,
I thought I would share our Thanksgiving mantel with you today.

This week these decorations will come down,
and we will begin decorating for Christmas.
I am still trying to figure out how that is possible.

It seems the fall season has flown right by this year.

The kids requested to put out the cornucopia,
it belonged to my Nana, and they absolutely love it.
Little man even took it to school for show and tell!
You can find a tutorial for the burlap monogram pumpkin here.

We found the little urns filled with fall goodness years ago at Michael's.
The pumpkins are from Target.

And, there you have it!
I hope you guys enjoy this beautiful Saturday!

If you haven't already done so,
be sure and enter to win this lovely statement necklace.
Winner will be chosen and announced tomorrow.
