Craft Closet Organized

Welcome to my craft closet, friends.
After the holidays,
this is also known as the disaster area.
SO scary!
Please don't stop being my friend after seeing that photo.
Okay,
are you still with me?

But seriously,
one of the dilemmas I face in this house is not a lot of storage space.
So, while this closet normally houses crafts and some candle supplies,
other things that don't have a "space" also inevitably get thrown in here.

I have started cleaning out and organizing spaces on our home.
I decided to take out EVERYTHING,
so of course, it ended up in the kitchen.

I knew the craft closet was going to be a doozie!
Boy, was I right.
Started at 10am and finished at 4pm.
Totally worth it though.

Little Cliff wanted in on a piece of the action!

I made some "rules" for myself.
Throw away anything I haven't used in 6 months.
If I didn't have "plans" for materials, pitch them as well.
Everything that went back "in" would have a place.

I couldn't be happier with the end result.

While we don't have a ton of extra storage space in our home,
I make it work for us and my little at home business.
I think a huge key is using and working with what you have.

Most of the bins and baskets I already had on hand.
Nearly all of them were purchased at Target or the Dollar Store.

Hope this inspires you to do some organizing for your own space!

Happy Sunday, my friends.

Sharing here.

I LOVE organizing! Beautiful job :) Do you open the closet door 487 times a day just to admire your work? That's what I find myself doing when I have a recently organized space :)

It certainly looks nice. I am hoping that I get to start on my laundry room tomorrow and that is where my pantry is also. It will take more than a day since I am going to paint also. but I am hoping to at least get started. Dianntha

Oh how I wish I had a craft closet! Mine is in a "studio-ish" area that doubles as a playroom for my girls. It works, but it is never hidden. This is such a great transformation... I just went through all my stuff recently, too, and it feels great, doesn't it?

Your closet looks great, but I'd regret next month that I got rid of so many things I hadn't used in only 6 months. I have fabric, felt, yarn, and numerous other collections of things I've had for years. They all cost me money and, if I were to buy those things now, I couldn't afford it. Today, if I want to make felt ornaments, for example, I have everything I need to do so. I don't have to go to a store to buy anything.

Your honesty is refreshing! my whole crafting space looked like your closet-nice to know I'm not the only one! I took a few hours myself to throw away, donate, etc. Yours looks great...mine is coming along :)

Very nice! We have a linen closet in our new house that I'm thinking of turning into a craft closet. Thanks for the great ideas!
