DIY Eye Makeup Remover

What, what's that?
You wanna know how to make your own eye makeup remover.
Good, you have come to the right place!

Okay.
So, in all seriousness, I despise paying a ton of money for eye makeup remover.
It seemed like I was always adding it to my Target list.
Who wants to spend a ton of money on something you can make at home for way less?
Especially at Target.
Just sayin'
So, a few years ago I started making my own.
It is very simple and requires only three ingredients.

Water, baby oil and tear free baby shampoo.
I always by the travel size and they last for.ev.er.

Okay, so first things first.
You will need a bottle of some sort.
I use the lovely orange one {pictured above}
It too was purchased out of the travel section.
I have had it maybe a year or so,
but I am sure they still sell something similar.
My bottle size is six ounces.
So, basically for this "recipe" you will need a six ounce size bottle.

Fill your bottle almost to the top with water.
{I would suggest leaving about 1/2 inch or so at the top}
Add 1/4 tsp. of baby oil

Next, you want to add 1/2 tsp. tear free baby shampoo

Give it a good shake until everything combines.
And, that's it.

Your welcome.

Sick, Storms and Shenanigans

It's shaping up to be one of "those weeks" around here.
Both of the kiddos are sick and were home from school yesterday.
So, they spent much of the day in bed reading, watching tv and playing with the cat.

Our poor little guy has a double ear infection, fever and a terrible cough.
Every four hours he has to do a breathing treatment.
So far, he has been such a trooper.
He basically pretends he is Darth Vader once he make goes on.
He then proceeds to breathe very heavy and deep breaths.
{So he sounds JUST like Darth Vader}
Hey, whatever works, right?

May is reading the Sorcerer's Stone for the third time.
She finished it up yesterday.
This girl loves to read, I tell ya.
And, in case your wondering, so does the cat.
Hilarious.

We sat out on the porch and watched a round of storms blow in yesterday evening.
There is something so peaceful about a thunderstorm.
The kids were glad to get a few minutes of fresh air,
 after being cooped up in the house all day.
Who am I kidding, so was this Mama!

More shenanigans with Cliff.
Little man informed us that this laundry basket was "jail"
and he and the cat were "put there"
Kids say he funniest things!

One last thing.
The kiddos got this crayon maker for Christmas.
We busted out with it last night.
It really is the coolest thing ever.

Okay, better run and start some laundry and do the dishes.
Be jealous, be very, very jealous, it's okay.

Valentine Heart Cake Mix Cookies

Happy Sunday!
Today the kiddos and I made a batch of our favorite cake mix cookies.
We decided to put a little spin on them and made them into hearts.
I think they turned out pretty darn cute.
Get ready friends and family,
you will SO be getting a batch of these for Valentine's Day this year!
I am planning on packaging them in little clear baggies,
maybe tied with some sort of twine or Valentine ribbon.
Cute!

Okay, back to business!
Wanna make them?
Alrighty!
Here's how.

You will need three ingredients.
Yes, you read that right,
no need to adjust your monitor.
;)

One strawberry cake mix {I used Duncan Hines}
2 eggs
1/3 cup of oil

Grab yourself a medium size bowl.
Preheat your oven to 350.

Lightly beat the two eggs in your bowl.
Stir in the cake mix and oil.
I like to use a rubber spatula for this.
Stir until well combined.

Next you want to shape them into hearts.
We basically rolled them into a ball.
them used our hands to make something that resembled a heart!
Now, pop them in the oven and bake for ten to twelve minutes.
Cool on wire racks.
That's it.

Enjoy!

Broccoli Cheese Soup

Happy Thursday, my dears!
Only one more day until the weekend.
Can I get a woooohoooo?

So, last weekend, I tried a new broccoli cheese soup recipe.
Oh. My. Lawd.
You MUST try it, it so is delicious!

First you wanna chop up one onion into tiny pieces.

Next, grab one stick of butter.
Yes, you read that right.
A whole stick!
Throw the entire stick into a large pan and melt over medium heat.
Next, throw your onion in.
Cook your onion for a few minutes until it turns clear.
Next, you want to stir in two tablespoons of flour.

Next slowly add:

 2 cups of half and half,
2 cups of milk
2 cans of chicken stock

{You can adjust these according to your preferred thickness}

Stir well, then add 4 to 5 heads of broccoli {chopped}
Boil until broccoli is done.
Add salt and pepper.
No need to measure, just sample until it tastes good to you!

Last, you want to add your cheese.
I decided to use a mixture of cheeses.
2 cups of mild cheddar and 1 cup pepper jack.
Regardless of what cheese you use, you will need three cups.
Slowly stir until your cheese in melted.

Serve with french bread and a salad.
You have yourself a lovely meal!

Have a great Thursday my dears!

My Word

I will admit, I am not one to make resolutions for the new year.
Don't get me wrong, I think it is awesome to set new goals and such.
I admire you folks who make this list, stand by it and cross things off, one by one.
However, if I am being honest, I have to tell you this.
Not once in my life have I ever sat down with pen and paper to make a resolution list.
Maybe it's because I feel like I couldn't "complete" things on that list,
so I would be setting myself up for failure.
Or maybe it's because I know most new year resolutions go by the way side,
 once the month of February is over with, and keeping up with life gets the best of us.
Not for all, but for many.

All of this being said,
I have decided to focus on one word during 2013.

TRUST

Through difficult and challenging times, I will remind myself of this word.
I truly hope and pray TRUST will remain a constant for me in 2013.

I have struggled with some heavy things during the last four months or so.
I try to keep things light and airy here on the blog.
You know, rainbows and unicorns.
{For the most part}
But in all seriousness, I do also try to be authentic and real.
And we all have bad days and troubled times,
 faced with challenges in one way or another.
Because, like it or not, such is life.
That being said,
there are others who are struggling with SO much more.
More than this heart and soul can comprehend.
So, I count my blessings, and try not to complain.
Because at the end of the day, I am thankful, so very thankful.
For everything God has provided us with.
All that we have ever wanted and needed,
he is there, always.

I will readily admit, I am very good at handing it over.
Praying diligently for God to cover, bless and watch over our lives.
I ask for guidance on a daily basis.
I remind myself that I am not the one in control, he is.
But, in some sorts, I take that control back.
Doubting and questioning myself.

Am I doing the right thing?
Are we making the right choices?
Is this is where we are meant to be?

If I am truly trusting in him, why must I do this to myself.
If I honestly believe that he is the one in control,
why can't I just let it be.

And,
TRUST.

So, this is me and this is what I am "working on."
I am praying for Gods grace to simply trust in him and what is meant to be.
We are all a work in progress in his eyes, aren't we.

           “I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.”
Psalm 91:2

DIY $3 Valentine Tree

Hello friends.
I hope all of you had a wonderful weekend.
I am here to share a quick and simple craft with you today.
Let's get started, shall we?

First you want to find a nice size branch.
The kids and I had fun going on a hunt for one around our yard today.
We found a nice sturdy one and decided to spray paint it white.
This is what will be your "tree" so choose your size wisely!

While our tree was drying,
we headed in the house to fix up some sort of container.
I have a ton of mason jars laying around,
so we just used one of those.
We filled the jar with Hershey kisses.
{Purchased for $2 at Target after Christmas clearance}
Please try not to be jealous of my fab manicure.

We also picked up these little cinnamon heart gummies.
We found them at the grocery store on the Valentine candle aisle for $1.

Next we went outside to bring in our tree.
Then stuffed it into the jar.
The kids basically just stuck the little gummy hearts any and everywhere.
I also grabbed a red ribbon and tied it around my jar.
Super simple, but adds a nice touch!
And, there you have it.
A fun family craft for Valentine's Day.
Takes an hour tops and only a few bucks.
Of course, the best part are the priceless memories and yummy candy eating!

Happy Friday!

Hey!
How was your week?
We are so happy it is Friday over here!
Yay for Friday!
I think it's our favorite day of the week.
Seriously.
I know it's the one day that gets us through the week!

On our way home from school today,
I decided to surprise the kids and pick up pizza and wings for dinner.
Their fav!
They were so excited!
Don't mind the huge bite that little man took out of the pizza,
I just wasn't fast enough with the camera I guess.
And, he was hungry.
But, then again, he is always hungry.
Boys!
Ha!

I made several new candle scents this week.
I also made some yummy Valentine scents.
Hoping to get the etsy shop opened up again soon.
It's on the to do list, along with 58 other things that need to be crossed off.

We had two award assemblies for the peeps today.
Granny and Grandpa were able to come.
The kids started jumping up and down the moment they saw them.
I love them so much and am so very thankful for them.
I feel so blessed our kiddos have their great grandparents in their lives.

Both of the kids got A honor roll for the six weeks.
They have worked so hard and we couldn't be more proud of them.

We are now about to snuggle up on the couch,
drink hot chocolate in our pj's and watch some Duck Dynasty.
Cheap entertainment I tell you.
There truly is no other place on earth I would rather be.

Have a great Friday night, friends!

L.O.V.E. it!

She is truly amazing.

Bacon, Egg and Cheese Burritos {1 Weeks Breakfast In 30 Minutes}

 Hi there!
So happy it is Friday over here.
Shew, this week was a long one.
Especially with the kids going back to school after being off for two weeks.
I am so beyond thankful for the weekend!

Okay, so on to the good stuff,
I am here to share a quick recipe and tip with y'all today.
It is SO super easy, this gal loves an easy recipe.
It is also very economical!
The total cost for sixteen breakfast burritos is under $8!
Now thta's what I'm talkin' about!

Basically all you need is bacon, eggs, cheese and flour tortillas.
I used one dozen eggs, 1 package of precooked bacon and 1 cup of cheese.

Scramble your eggs and cook as usual.
{I am assuming you don't need a recipe for this}
;)

You want to let the eggs cool before using them in your tortillas.
While your eggs are cooling down, lay out your tortillas.
Once your eggs have cooled completely spoon them down the center or your tortillas.
Next sprinkle your bacon and cheese.
{It's up to you how much, use what your family prefers}
I always use more bacon because our kiddos LOVE some bacon.
You could totally use sausage for this recipe as well.

 Okay, so next you want to roll up each tortilla in a burrito fashion.
Then, wrap EACH individual burrito with plastic wrap.

Throw them all in a large freezer bag.
Now, here's the good stuff!

I normally keep ours in the fridge because they are consumed so fast!
However, you can freeze them as well.

*To heat out of the fridge:

Remove all plastic {duh}
Wrap in a paper towel and pop in microwave for 30-45 seconds.
{Or until cheese is melted and burrito is heated}

*To heat out of the freezer:

Follow same steps as above but add to the cook time.
Our microwave normally takes 1-1 1/2 minutes to heat them from a frozen state.

That's it!
Do you make breakfast and freeze it?
I would LOVE for you to share in the comments.
I am always looking for good freezer meals for our family!

Hope you enjoy the rest of your day.
I appreciate each and every one of you.
Take care!
:)

Super Simple Beef Stew

 Howdy folks!
I hope you are having a wonderful week so far.
It has been rainy and on the cool side this week here in Texas.
I decided to cook some yummy beef stew for my family yesterday.
I thought I would share with y'all,
you know, just in case you need an easy stew recipe!
What's great about this stew is you can add just about anything to it.
I have made it for years and years and the fam still loves it!

Okay,
so here's what you will need.

2 lbs. stew meat
2 tbs. butter {to brown meat}
1 large carton of beef broth
4 cups of water
1 bag of petite carrots
6 red potatoes {cubed}
1 can stewed tomatoes
1 can green beans
salt, pepper, garlic powder, chili powder, worcestershire sauce, tobasco sauce

Heat a large pot over medium heat.
Throw in the butter, melt, add your meat.
Brown on all sides for ten minutes or so.
I add salt, pepper, garlic powder and chili powder while meat is browning.
I never measure, but be generous with your spices,
this is what will flavor your stew!

Once meat is browned,
pour your broth in.
Add about 1 tbs. of both worcestershire and tobasco.
{I add a bit more, we like a spicy kick to our stew}
Add your water and cook {low boil} for 30 to 45 minutes or so.
Next, throw in your carrots and potatoes.
Cook {low boil} for another 30 to 45 minutes.
{Until meat and vegetables are thoroughly cooked}

 Last, you want to add your stewed tomatoes and green beans.
I also add more of all of my spices at this time.
I never measure, just add a bit of everything.
Simmer for ten minutes and then serve!

Enjoy!
:)
